On Wednesday, 6 December 2023, Enham Trust held an inaugural archery competition in memory of keen archer and valued Enham resident, Angela Hampton.

Named in her honour, The Angela Hampton Memorial competition took place on Angela’s birthday at Enham Trust’s Sports Hall, home to the Enham Archery Club and other leisure activities organised by our Activities Team.

The competition was closely fought under the watchful eye of Ian Melrose, Enham’s archery instructor.

“Every competitor here is a winner. Everyone who took part has shown remarkable perseverance to have started from scratch and to have reached the point where they were able to compete to this standard.” – Ian Melrose, Instructor

In the end, it was Sam who emerged victorious, very closely followed by Simon in 2nd place and Ben in 3rd. To present the awards at this year’s competition were Angela’s parents and family members, to whom we send our grateful thanks.

This year and every year going forward, winners’ names are engraved on a plaque and mounted to a shield, and each of the top three scorers receive a prize; a cup going to 1st place and shields to the 2nd and 3rd place competitors.

We very much look forward to this year’s competition and residents, staff and loved ones paying fitting tribute to Angela in the years to come. Without our supporters, we would not be able to provide such wonderful sporting and leisure opportunities to the disabled people we support. For this, we thank you.
